Stretch fabric is your friend. Find a fabric store (in the US: Jo-Ann's or Hancock's are large chain stores). For close-fitting fabric the best is often called "swim suit liner" ($9-12.00 yard) close supple weave and 4-way stretch. Fabric is sold in linnear lengths off the bolt - the bolt is often 54 inches wide - you need 1/3 yard for first few tries.

Sharpie632 suggests laying your figure on a sheet of paper and draw and outline of the torso and/or legs. Do spread the legs at least 60 degrees. Add 3/16 inch to allow for seams,

Fold the pattern vertically to insure it is symmetric - add or trim paper.

Cut two pieces of fabric with maximum stretch direction horizontal. Most fabric has a "right" and a "wrong" side - place same sides back to back.

Sew the inseam (inner vee of the legs) first. Doing so gives the project stability.

Next sew the outside seams up to the armpits. Leave the shoulder to neck to shoulder area open for later.

Pull the project inside out. Insert your figure. See if you like it.

Decide on the neckline, and how you'll close it. I often cut a slit down the back and later sew the figure into the catsuit - or a generous "scoop" neckline may be your answer.

Cut and sew long tubes for sleeves, tuck inside bodice at shoulders. When fitted, either use small dabs of fabric glue (Liquid Stitch or Unique Stitch - it "disappears") or sew sleeves to bodice.
